Healthy Back Program

 

Healthy Back Class
This class combines education and exercise techniques to reduce existing back pain and avoid its recurrence. The first half is a lecture and the second half is learning exercise techniques. The Healthy Back Clinic is open to anyone who wishes to learn how to protect the back and keep it healthy, as well as those with prior injuries or pain.

Pain Pals Support group
Pain Pals is a peer-to-peer support group for people who suffer with chronic pain. For more information call Jayne at 773-3646 ext 448.
• Meet with others who suffer from Chronic Pain
• Gain emotional and physical support
• Share thoughts and personal skills to help heal through awareness.
Wednesdays from 1:30-3 pm. Free for all in the community.

 

Tai Chi
Known for its slow, fluid movements to integrate the mind and body. It has been shown to promote balance, flexibility, muscular strength, cardiovascular fitness and increase levels of psychological well-being and reduction of anxiety/stress. Classes begin with step by step instruction, learning and progressing throughout the session.

 

Enhance fitness
Helps older adults at all levels of fitness become more active, energized, and empowered to sustain independent life. A full hour of fun that focuses on dynamic cardio exercise, strength training, balance, and flexibility – everything older adults need to maintain health and function as they age.

 

Gentle yoga for cancer survivors
Weekly class of stretching, strengthening and deep relaxation for those living with a cancer diagnosis. Made possible by the Oncology Department of BFMC and Wheeling for Healing. For more info or to pre-register, contact instructor Pam Roberts, pamro@aol.com or 413.625.2402.

Yoga for Chronic Pain
If you live and work with chronic physical pain, then this gentle and restorative yoga class is for you. Group focus will involve gentle movement, relaxation, awareness, and skills for working with undesirable sensations.
Find support and understanding in a class designed to work towards resiliency and transformation within a caring group environment.
