The Farr Fitness Center
Our 1,700-sq. ft. Farr Fitness Center has cardio machines and a Life Fitness selectorized strength-training circuit. Perfect for ages 15+ and good for those just starting a wellness program to experienced strength trainers. The Center boasts a variety of cardio equipment including treadmills, Airdynes, upright/recumbent bikes, rowing machines, cross-trainers, elliptical trainers and more.
Children 10-14 may use the Farr Fitness Center at any time providing there is parent supervision (parent must be a Y facility member) in the room at all times. Kids 12-14 may use the FFC from 2:30 - 4:30 pm, M-F (cardio room and 8 piece strength circuit, NOT the Free Weight Room) without a parent in the room. Orientation with an Exercise Trainer is required.
The Nautilus Center
The most effective, progressive resistance exercise program available that improves strength, your heart and flexibility in each 30 minute workout. Our 12 month graduated workout system is designed to guide you through those difficult first months when establishing a regular workout routine is particularly challenging. We understand that as difficult as it is to start an exercise program, it is even harder to keep it going. Our experienced staff is on hand to train, answer questions and help you succeed in achieving your wellness goals. As always, 4-6 training appointments per year are included with your membership at no additional cost. Motivational games and challenges keep workout enthusiasm and the “fun factor” high. Two 16 piece Nautilus strength circuits means no waiting for equipment to become available. The Nautilus Center includes it’s own cardio and stretching area as well.
First Step Fitness
Included free with your Facility membership, FSF is a habit-forming plan for physically inactive individuals who need structure to help them develop the basic physical and psychological skills needed to exercise regularly. Although adopting and maintaining an exercise behavior is primarily a psychological and social process of change, the physiological component cannot be ignored. The First Step Fitness Program uses an individualized, step-by-step approach that focuses on cardiovascular endurance and resistance training. This approach provides program members with basic physical skills that they can continue to use and adapt when the program ends. The basic requirements for program participants are to 1) show up at the Y at least three days per week for 12 weeks and 2) attend the one-on-one appointments. First Step Fitness participants report experiencing increased self-confidence, a strong sense of belonging, and a high sense of achievement as they pursue their health and well-being goals in a safe and supportive environment.
This second phase program is for those with initial exercise success. The program offers the atmosphere, motivation, skills and guidance necessary to continue the commitment to creating a life-long habit. Y-Boost is for FSF graduates and other exercisers who are ready to make lifelong changes. Y-Boost provides experienced Exercise Trainers who help you set proper goals and work with you monitoring your progress in the supportive atmosphere of the Farr Fitness Center or Nautilus Center. We will help you get healthy and strong!
Basic Strength Training
This class is for those 15 and older who want to learn to lift weights. Learn the basics of resistance training in a group atmosphere. Gain self-empowering benefits like boosting your metabolic rate, self-esteem, improving joint stability, posture and strength. The instructors will train you and develop a personalized program to fit your needs. This class is great for beginners or those who like
a group environment.
Small Group Training
Provides members with our experienced and certified Personal Trainers to work with and address your specific needs, while providing motivation, structure, goals and of course, encouragement. Instruction is designed to help you understand the many components of physical fitness and provide a regimen that helps you become more physically and functionally fit. Personal Trainers help to balance appropriate cardio-respiratory, muscular strength and flexibility exercises regardless of age, ability or fitness condition. One hour sessions are available by appointment only. Call the Welcome Center for pricing. Trainers set their own rates.
Group Exercise classes
(over 60 classes per week), taught by certified instructors with professionally mixed music and a state of the art sound system with wireless microphone. The Y’s Aerobic Room (Adams Room) is top of the line and the schedule offers a variety of styles and intensity levels from which to choose. Air conditioned, great music, cushioned wooden floor, fun instructors a class for you!
